House Colors

One of the projects we've budgeted for in 2012 is getting our house painted. It has been kind of fun to point out houses with exterior paint color combinations we like as we drive around town. Olive green and cream has been a recent consensus between Chris and I.
Like the house above, our house has dark windows & mullions (looks like this house has black ones. Ours are dark brown). So we'll need to choose paint colors that work well with dark brown.

Choosing exterior paint colors is such a big decision! Good thing we have plenty of time to "research".

Oh good, I'm not the only one thinking about 2012 house projects already. One of the items I'd like to get is a new couch, so I'll be researching your couch info again because I remember you did a post when you were in the market for yours. Do you love your new couch? Friends of ours just got their house painted and it looks amazing - a totally different house now when you drive by. Holly Matthis did a bunch of posts on exterior colors as well if you're looking for some other info.

Good choice! Picking exterior colors is hard beings it's a little more of a commitment than a small room. We went blue because we didn't want our house to blend in with the other 1 million beige houses in the area. Get creative Iowa. :P

I know it'll look amazing! I love the house in the picture, especially with the red roof... maybe you can budget for a red roof as well? :)

This is so much fun to follow (literally) your decisions.

Great color combo! I would love to paint (ok, re-side) my house!

Oooh I wish I could have picked out our house color. The people sided it white right before they put it on the market. Blah. :/ I could never, ever justify the cost to replace it with something I like better...so we'll hopefully be adding some colorful shutters eventually! :)

I have exterior colors on my mind too. We will be painting in early spring, so there's plenty of time to obsess! My house is completely different - a 1972 French Provincial brick ranch. I'm thinking a chalky gray body, taupey gray shutters and coral for the front doors. At least this week, anyway!

You are such a good planner...I'm usually like "Hmmm, what color should I get"...as I'm on my way to the paint store! ha! But I guess that is why your projects turn out to fantastic and mine....well, they turn out! (c:

Our house is brick so I didn't have to make that decision but I've always thought it would be far more of a challenge than picking an interior color. Our builder told us that he always suggested that his clients drive by some of the homes he built and see if they like the look of any of the colors because he'd know exactly what color they used.

After doing hundreds of interior colour consultations I"m still scared of picking exterior colour. Things I have learned is that you should consider all the exterior colours...driveway, garden, etc. I have no doubt you'll chose a fantastic colour!

Olive and cream- just like me :) We just painted our house Benjamin Moore's Providence Olive -just love it!

...on the previous post- I think alabaster lamps and an arc lamp would look more than fine together. The room is looking awesome!
