Thrifting Fun

Like a itch that needs to be scratched, I just couldn't stay away from my favorite consignment shop for very long. This time, I took Chris and the truck with me to avoid the dilemma I faced last time I went.
A couple of things caught our eye.

The top of this $60 server opens and extends and there's great storage inside. It would be pretty after it was painted.

This $12 ottoman would have been a good match to the wingback we put in our master bedroom. If only I had fabric leftover to get it reupholstered...

Loved this $23 funky chrome and vinyl chair. Just don't have a place for it.
Interestingly, I saw one identical to it selling at an antique store for $65.

These matching end tables made me pause. If Chris didn't already have plans to make some for the family room, they probably would have come home with us. $46 for both.

The red leather top is so Beacon Hill Brownstone Chic!

Of course the day I came prepared (husband, cash, truck) is the day I didn't see anything worth taking home, but better to be safe than sorry!
What great thrifting finds have you taken home with you lately?

My Salvation Army has been lacking lately. I have bought like 50 little xmas trees from there lately. It's some weird sickness.

Wish I lived closer - look like some real treasures. Loved the end tables - great lines.

I too love that server....I'm going to have start stalking my local Salvation Army! I need a place to store the liquor besides my kitchen cabinets!

Of course! (but at least you were prepared) I think I go to two of my favorite thrift stores at least once a week - it's addicting! And the hunt, oh the hunt - never know what treasures you will find. Yesterday I found a vintage wall mount coffee grinder that I would love to have for our home (we love coffee) but the price wasn't right. I'm going to see next week if it's still there but I bet it won't be.

Ohhhhh.. I want that chrome chair! I haven't gotten into thrifting but you make me want to especially if I could find something like that chair. haha

Argh! That *always* happens! I swear I actually made plans to go with the bro-in-law, money, and no kids...NADA. Bummer. But that just means there is something more awesome in your thrifting future, right??? (c:

Loving the server- I don't think i would have passed that up. I have not been to our local store for a while which makes me sooo mad because my mom went the other day and walked out with two chandeliers for ten bucks each! One of them is so flipping gorgeous I really was so mad I vowed to go every week but still have not been. Maybe later :)

Okay, this is weird, but I am really superstitious about the relationship between being prepared for shopping and your yield. For example, I believe that if I GRAB A CART at Home Goods, I will find nothing. If I leave the carts alone, I will hit the jackpot. So far, this is true every single time.

I'm loving those tables as well. Isn't that always the way it is? When you're prepared you can't find anything. I also find that when I don't have money I find that perfect item. It's Murphy's Law.

That always happens to us, too, that we are all prepared and then never find anything!

Very very responsible move - asking yourself where you would actually put something instead of just buying it! We're at that point at my house, too (well, I mean, I am; my hubby mostly nods). There just isn't space for "great things that we don't need," even though it's sooooooooo tempting.

The chrome chair price is AMAZING! I want it .... but also don't room for it. Hmmm, maybe reupholster and sell it ??!! Or simply admire it :)

You found so many things I would have taken, especially the chrome chair but better you waited for something you really need! Better luck next time!

Wow, you really did find some beauties on that trip. It's always the way though isn't it? Hopefully next time when you take your little car you can just have Chris hiding around the corner pretending not to be waiting for you and your truckload of purchases:)
