Odds and Ends

My sister and I had big plans to go to Brimfield together over the weekend, but at the last minute we decided to go to Ikea because Ikea had stuff we both wanted to check out. Big mistake. They didn't have either of the items in stock I wanted (KLUBBO and SONGE), so I ended up leaving with a bunch of things not on my list that I didn't need. I fell right into the Ikea trap! Plus it was unbelievably crowded with college students buying up cheap furniture for their apartments. My sister, however, struck gold and bought enough to practically redecorate her entire house. Among her purchases was a pair of MALMs that she intends to hack with O'verlays. I can't wait to see how they come out.

The new roof on our house is officially finished and we are patiently waiting for the painting to begin. We are currently on the painter's schedule to start next Monday. Fingers crossed.

We walked by this house the other night while out to grab dinner. It looks close to the paint color scheme we're planning for our own house. I snapped the photo because I like how they used a a subtle accent color under the windows.

We've decided to do the same using Benjamin Moore's sail cloth.

In other randomness...Chris and I have decided to BRING IT with P90x. (You know, so we'll be beach ready in the dead of winter.) So if you don't see me around these parts as often over the next 90 days it is because my arms are too sore to lift to the keyboard.

I always have the hardest time deciding on trips like that - IKEA where I know what I want or not knowing what I might find at a yard sale or flea market. And my SIL just emailed me some questions about their exterior paint colors and of course I had to come over to check out your post to see what colors you're using. I'm sure you can confirm this, but I think exterior colors are THE hardest to choose because not only is it a pretty permanent decision ($$$) but it's for the world to see too (rather than the comfort of your home). Yikes. I'll let you know what they decide. And way to go getting your P90X on. I've gotten back into spinning and yoga, and I must admit it feels damn good. Good luck to you guys.

Love the accent color. Can't wait to see the painted house!

My hubs does P90X (me... not so much). He's in better shape now than when we got married (me... not so much).

Carrie - I have vowed never to do Ikea on a weekend - unless it is a matter of life or death - just too crazy. Good luck on the P90X.....

I have started p90x like a million times. It's great, but life always seems to get in the way of my exercise routines;)

Love the changes in your home. It is lovely, and you should feel so proud when you come home. OK, feeling old and out of the loop...what is P90x?

More power to you with P90, I tried it once...the second disc made so so cranky I never did it again...I'm sure you'll have more willpower than me! Can't wait to see your newly painted digs!!

Oh no! No Brimfield and then Ikea didn't have what you want?! That sucks! But other smaller scores are good too:)

Ugh. P90X. Paul tried that once. Good luck!!! (and you don't need it!)

Woo hoo! Bring the P90X! I'm trying to "bring it" too but dang that program is hard. Lotta walking in place and trying to catch my breath over here!
Love Sail Cloth - it will look so pretty with your colors.

I cannot tell a lie...I really hate Ikea...I know, I know, everyone loves it! But I haven't been impressed with a single thing I've bought there and it's always a madhouse! Maybe I'm just getting old and cranky...(c; P90X is a booty kicker for *SURE*...honestly, the yoga was one of the toughest for me...sad, right??? Good luck lady!

Oh Ikea, how I love/hate you. I did P90X this year. It's a time consuming commitment for sure but you'll rock it.

haha Rick and I have been working out together lately (nothing as insane as P90X but still more than usual for us.) Biceps, here we come. ;)

Congrats on the progress (and I mean both on your roof and arms!), Carrie. I love the paint combination, too!

You have a great color scheme picked. Have been wondering about P90X but for a while but have instead opted for pilates and zumba - for now. Enjoy!!

You're doing it wrong. Now is the time to get chubby and hide it in sweaters. And THEN you plan a beach vacation and kill yourself jan-mar to get yourself back in shape (and regret every pumpkin bar and christmas cookie). UNLESS, you already have a trip planned...in that case, carry on.

Love the house plans...as always.

That always happens to me too in Ikea. I always walk out with what I didn't go for. And good luck with P90. I tried that one and just couldn't find an hour a day to keep it up.

Hi,

I have a quick question about your blog, do you think you could e-mail me?

love the house plans!!! The color scheme is amazing. Kudos for you two for starting P90x. Winter is the time for baggy sweaters and filling soups and stews for me!! Does this mean you have some fabulous vacation to a tropical island planned for the dead of January or February?? I hope so!!

Ikea gets me every time, don't know when I'll learn to call them first to see what I'm after is in stock, failure to do so always results in a ton of extra money being spent.

Love the paint colors! Can't wait to see it when it's done. I hate waiting on contractors...somehow they always start days after they say they will be ready. Sending good vibes your way. Good luck on the p90x. I love the ab ripper. Intense!

Good luck with P90x! I did it once and then did Insanity. Love them both! Hate the pull-ups though. YUCK.
