This or That? (and a Humble Request)

Can you tell what's different in these living room mock ups?

I know, that was an easy one. What can I say? It is Monday and we can all use easy on a Monday. I'm in the process of debating rugs for our formal living room. Right now, the colorful one is winning this internal war, but I'm curious to hear what you think.

And in some very exciting news, Hazardous Design was nominated (for the second year in a row!) as a Best Remodeling Blogger in the JDR Annual Industry Blogger Awards.

I'd love you forever if you click on the badge above (or here) and voted for us! THANK YOU!

Voted! And I also vote for the first rug. From the picture it has more warmth to it than the second rug. I guess you'd have to see it in person to see the undertones but I really like the first one.

I choose the colored one. I love it. The other one is kind of blah. lol
Congrats on the nomination. You do deserve that award. Very talented and fantastic renovations.

I voted for your blog! I was actually over there, voting for my friend Stacey, who is in the design category with her blog, Design Addict Mom. Then, I saw yours in the remodeling category! :) Congrats!! And I also go with the darker rug. It's a beautiful choice and would look amazing against the white walls!

I love the first one- there is somethign about an anique Persian rug that gets me everytime. Even if the rest of the room is neutral, those rugs are just too pretty not to use in every room of a house

Definitely the colorful rug...just looks like a better fit with the style of your house.

Off to vote for you!

As with any decor, choices should be up to your personal tastes and not to trends or anyone else's opinion. With that being said, if it were my living room, I would go with the more neutral rug. Even though the other rug is very lovely, it will limit your color palette choices when decorating for the holidays or other seasons and it may be something you tire of easily. However, the good thing about rugs is you can have many of them and change them out as the mood strikes. That is if you purchase inexpensive ones. You can also layer them. If you do get the brighter colored one, you can always add something like a zebra rug or cowhide over the top to change up the look. I'm sure anything you choose will look fabulous. Have fun, that's what design is all about.

funny, I almost always go for color, but I gotta say I am digging the calm vibe the neutral one imparts!

I voted for you! I like the neutral one as you can switch it up with colorful pillows by season...even with other colors like the turquoises and greens in the painting and accessories on the coffee table.

Definitely colour for me! Especially if you go for the white walls. And, it'll tie in nicely with the red mirror in your hallway. :)

I'm really digging the color too! It makes the rest of the room elements pop and gives them some personality!

I LOVE the colorful rug!! That one is a definite yes!! Congrats!! I'll vote for you now. :)

Looks like I'm on the colorful bandwagon! ;)

Lol! For me, I'd probably go with the second neutral rug, but the first, colorful red one is totally your style!! Congrats on the Blogger Awards! You and Chris definitely deserve to win that category. Voting now:)

Wow, I'm amazing at the huge difference in the two boards with only a change in rug. I "knew" in my head stuff like that makes a big difference, but that was a great visual. The red one gives the space so much more energy! If that is what you want :) It's my choice, and thank you for abruptly changing my mind about wanting a dirt-eating beige carpet in my future living room. Orange it is!!!

I like color because it enhances the neutral colors

I like both rugs...it just depends on how much color you want in there. The one good thing about neutral you can always add color later.
Congrats for your blogger award...you deserving it!

I vote for color! And I'm headed over to vote for you now!

I can't say no to color, so I say go with the bolder choice, especially since the sofa and curtains are neutral. And I voted for you! It would be a very well-deserved award!

i love the colored one, it adds this spark to the room and makes it a little bit more eclectic versus a little bit more standard beige-y.

I'm a big fan of the more colorful rug. And brass would be perfect paired with it!

My parents take a lot of three day vacations, and I think for people who work a lot, that might be ideal. Working folks can't always swing a full-on vacation...but taking off Friday can make Monday somewhat more bearable.
